Travel By Car

Travel By Bus
Buses arrive daily from all around the UK to Edinburgh's main bus station which is roughly a 20 minute walk to The Edinburgh Academy. Those already in the city or looking to get a bus from elsewhere can find information on the Lothian Buses website by clicking here.
Travel By Train
Edinburgh Waverley railway station is the principal station serving Edinburgh which is a 20 minute walk from The Edinburgh Academy. Once you have arrived at the station however you can easily get a taxi or Lothian Bus.
Travel By Plane
Over 180 flights connect Edinburgh to the rest of the UK and Europe each day and Edinburgh Airport is only eight miles (12km) from Edinburgh city centre, with the journey taking around 25 minutes depending on your choice of transport.
Edinburgh’s main bus company, Lothian Buses provide public transportation to and from the airport with the Airlink 100 express bus service. This express bus service runs every 10 minutes from the airport to Waverley Bridge (near Princes Street and the main rail and bus stations). Journey time to the city centre is around 25 minutes (depending on traffic).
Edinburgh Trams run frequently between the airport and the city centre. Trams run every 7 minutes with journey times taking around 30 minutes.
Separate taxi ranks (which are well signposted) for private airport taxis and for city “black cabs” are situated outside the east end of the terminal building. A journey to the city centre takes about 25 minutes and generally costs around £15. Most taxis are wheelchair accessible
Is There A Cashpoint At The Venue?
The venue for this years event is normally a school so unfortunately there is no cashpoint and we highly recommend that you bring plenty of cash with you on the day, however there are plenty in the city centre and many of our traders will take card.
Health & Safety
If you require medical assistance whilst at the venue, please inform a member of the stewarding team or any member of venue staff.
Where Can I Park?
There is no on-site parking so we advise you either travel in by public transport or park on the streets nearby for free. There are pay and display car parks in the centre of Edinburgh from which you can use public transport or walk.
What Are The Opening Hours
For all days of the event, the opening and closing times are 10am until 6pm.
Is The Venue Disabled Friendly?
We have a dedicated team of customer assistants waiting to help you get the right ticket for your requirements. For The Love Of Fantasy customers with specific access requirements will need to register these details with our Customer Care team when they buy their ticket. Everybody’s requirements will be different and we want to ensure your enjoyment of the event, therefore, tickets can only be booked by calling our Customer Care team on 0344 8000 410. Customers will receive tickets allowing priority access to For The Love Of Fantasy, avoiding the queue and giving priority for autographs and photo opportunities, as well as at the front door. Customers will need to show their accessibility priority tickets to our venue stewards on arrival. There is Accessible Parking near the venue and dedicated accessible parking spaces are available.
Do You Offer Carer Tickets?
For The Love Of Fantasy will provide a free ticket to carers/personal assistants of fans who are attending that have a medical disability to accompany them in the venue. The person with disability will need to buy a full price general admission ticket, it is only the carer/personal assistant who is entitled to a free ticket. If the person with disability is under 16 years of age, a carer ticket will not be granted as all persons under 16 years of age need adult supervision anyhow. In order to receive an additional ticket the personal assistant needs to be on the carer's register which we will need proof of. Please call our customer services team to book on 0344 8000 410. Phone lines are open Monday - Saturday 9am - 9pm & Sundays and Bank Holidays 10am - 5pm.
Photographs & Autographs
Do I Need To Buy An Entry Ticket If I Purchase An Autograph Or Photograph?
Yes. Autograph and photographs are an optional extra on top of your general entry ticket.
People who purchase a ticket in advance will get priority in the autograph and selfie queue. You can pay on the day for an autograph at the guest table, or a selfie.
When Are Autograph Times?
Our special guests will be signing all day from 10am til 6pm if they are not in a live panel on stage or taking a break. Sometimes guests will arrive late or early due to travel requirements so please be aware of this when making your plans as we cannot guarantee they will be available all day.
What Can I Have Autographed?
You can have photos taken during photo ops signed at the tables, you can also choose from a selection of photographs on the guest's tables to be signed. Most guests will sign personal items such as comics, toys, DVDs, etc but this is at their own discretion.
Can I Have A Selfie At The Guests Table?
There are no rules against selfies with the guests, however, this is at the guests discretion on the day so be prepared for disappointment if they are not offering selfies, there may also be a charge for this at the table, again, at the discretion of the guest.
Can I Book A Traders Table?
Yes, we are accepting applications for 2019 now.
Can I Apply To Volunteer At The Event?
Yes, we are always looking for people to help with the event, in fact some of our full time staff started as volunteers themselves.
